Our story

Built by practitioners who lived the problem

EcoLedger is self-serve sustainability compliance software, built by experts who sat on both sides of the table - drafting, reviewing, and analysing ESG disclosures across some of the world's largest listed companies.

Companies were spending enormous sums on consultants, yet still struggling to produce disclosure that was structured, evidence-linked, and ready for scrutiny. The problem was not a lack of intent or even a lack of data. It was a lack of infrastructure.

We built the system we wished existed: modular, self-serve, aligned to ISSB, CSRD, and EU Taxonomy - deployable in 48 hours without a single consultant engagement.

How we operate

Three commitments. No exceptions.

01 ///

Regulatory precision

Every template, checklist, and workflow is built directly from ISSB, CSRD, and EU Taxonomy source texts — not interpreted summaries. What passes our review passes assurance.

02 ///

Evidence architecture

Disclosure without evidence isn't disclosure — it's risk. Our systems structurally link every claim to a verifiable data source, audit trail, or supporting document.

03 ///

Accessible infrastructure

Financial-grade reporting systems should not require a £50,000 consultant engagement. We've made every tool self-serve, so teams of any size can deploy in 48 hours.

The regulatory arc

How corporate sustainability became
a compliance imperative

ESG disclosure has shifted from voluntary best practice to legally mandated, financially material infrastructure. Here's how we got here — and where the pressure is heading.

1987 · ORIGINS
The Brundtland Report
The UN Commission on Environment and Development defines sustainable development for the first time, planting the seed for corporate responsibility thinking globally.
2000 · VOLUNTARY ERA
Global Reporting Initiative launched
GRI establishes the first widely-adopted voluntary sustainability reporting framework. Disclosure becomes a reputational choice, not a legal one. Most corporates opt out.
2015 · PARIS INFLECTION
COP21 & the Paris Agreement
196 nations commit to net-zero pathways. The TCFD framework is established, signalling that climate risk is financial risk. Investors begin demanding structured climate disclosure.
2021 · INVESTOR PRESSURE
ISSB established at COP26
The International Sustainability Standards Board is created to develop a global baseline for investor-grade sustainability disclosure — treating ESG data with the rigour of financial reporting.
2023 · MANDATORY DISCLOSURE
CSRD enters into force
The EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive makes detailed ESG disclosure legally mandatory for ~50,000 companies. Non-compliance carries financial and legal consequences.
2024–25 · ASSURANCE ERA
Audit-readiness becomes the new standard
Regulators and third-party assurance providers begin scrutinising the evidence behind disclosures. Unverified claims generate regulatory censure. The bar shifts from reporting to proving.
NOW · WHERE WE OPERATE
Infrastructure, not just reporting
Sustainability disclosure now demands the same evidence architecture as financial audit. EcoLedger exists to give every organisation — not just those with £50k consultant budgets — the infrastructure to meet that standard.
